Working remotely, at Kinetix a new vision of work

Working remotely means working full-time remotely. The term “remote” means “isolated” in English. Moreover, if isolation is the basis of remote it is also a problem for many workers. With the arrival of the health crisis and the forced democratization of telework, the question of working conditions in telework is in full reflection. How to allow its employees to work remotely in good conditions? How can we allow them to keep the link between teams beyond simple remote videoconferences?

Indeed, in recent times we have realised that workers undeniably need human contact. In particular, the Ministry of Labour conducted a study in November 2020 alongside Harris Interactive. The objective was to take the temperature among employees working from home. The observation is clear. Out of 10 employees interviewed, 4 feel isolated during the week of the study. On the other hand, 3 out of 10 say they do not live well with teleworking. In this sense, companies are adapting. They reflect to offer new working conditions and develop a remote culture that values the well-being of their employee. Kinetix is one of these companies. It was notably rewarded by the competition of Station F, in collaboration with AirBnb and the Association of Mayors of France.

A competition to work remotely for a month in the countryside

On Thursday, June 3, 80 start-ups had the opportunity to present their projects as part of the competition launched by Station F. This is a competition organized in collaboration with the seasonal rental platform AirBnb and the Association of Mayors of France. It aims to reward start-ups that have developed a remote culture. Indeed, today many professionals turn to coliving to work remotely. More concretely, professionals decide to make a joint rental in order to maintain links between colleagues in the context of remote work. Human contact would thus help to stimulate motivation or creativity in the context of collaborative projects. The Station F competition was, so to speak, born of this observation.

By partnering with AirBnb and the Association of Mayors of France, the competition offers an opportunity to work remotely in the heart of the French countryside. On the one hand, it is a great opportunity for workers to enjoy a relaxing natural setting. On the other hand, it is an opportunity for rural areas to make themselves known at their true value.

Thus, the winning startup of the edition was able to win a one-month stay in a house made available by Airbnb. The employees of the winning start-up will be able to enjoy the great outdoors of the campaign. They will be able to work in soothing conditions during the month of September. The competition selected 3 start-ups including Kinetix. It is a start-up that develops innovative solutions to democratize 3D. She may therefore have the opportunity to benefit from a free stay in a villa in the middle of nature in Pégairolles-de-l’Escalette.

Kinetix, a company that has understood the best practices of remote work

If Kinetix is a winning start-up, it is thanks to its culture of distance learning. It has cultivated it since its creation. Indeed, the two founders of Kinetix met remotely. Thus the company was born during the first lockdown. It was therefore necessary to adapt to the context and the generalization of teleworking. Kinetix then carries in its DNA the culture of “working remotely”. If it is not particularly a choice, it manages to adapt in a new context. By not experiencing any situation other than that of the health crisis, the company has laid the foundations of its telework culture. All activities take place remotely. Programming, development, meetings, recruitment or fundraising are done remotely.

However, the start-up has understood that all exchanges must not be only virtual. In this sense, Kinetix organizes work sessions in places it chooses to allow its remote employees to work collaboratively. She also organizes meetings between her teams in Airbnb homes every three months. These moments of life between remote employees are essential to maintain team cohesion but also a human link in a remote work context. In addition, by working in new atypical places, employees stimulate their motivation and creativity and have only one hurry to meet to work together.

Kinetix is therefore part of the new turning point in the world of work by developing a hybrid way of working. Far from the classic conceptions of working in the office, Kinetix is based on its remote culture by taking into account the threats of this mode of work. In addition, it intends to continue to develop its teams by recruiting new profiles. It is looking for 3D engineers, deep learning researchers and developers. While you are in Bordeaux, Paris or elsewhere to find a new job, it does not matter in remote. This may be an opportunity to put your foot in the stirrup for a new vision of work.
