Waycom sets up shop in Bordeaux!

Created in Paris, and more precisely in Suresnes, in 2000, theinternet operator and host Waycom has elected New Aquitaine as a new field of action by moving its Bordeaux branch, until then located in Mérignac. Moving in January 2017 to Bordeaux itself, in the brand new and particularly well-served district of the Bassins à Flot, alongside Bordeaux’s CDiscount and soon IBM and Crédit Agricole, the company says it wants to expand its activities in a region with significant dynamism.

Operating in the fields of network, cloud computing or outsourcing, Waycom has more than 1,500 customers, and not least since we can mention Galeries Lafayettes, Sony BMG, Optical center, LVMH, Longchamps or CDiscount (which would have helped the leaders rely on the regional capital to develop their activities).

Already based in Limoges and Luxembourg, Waycom is growing at around 20% a year and a turnover of almost 18 million euros in 2016. Its new premises, with an area of 400 to 500 square meters, are preparing to accommodate about 60 people in the next 2 to 3 years. They currently have a team of about 20 employees and plan to grow their ranks by one-third by the end of the year.

In anticipation of this growth, Waycom opened its HR department less than a year ago. Based in Paris and headed by Delphine Lable (also DAF), he manages the company’s 120 employees.

For its Bordeaux ambition, the company has offered Christophe Adrieu’s expertise as sales manager in New Aquitaine. An investment that is worth gold since it is straight out of the companies Spie, SFR Business and France Telecom, Christophe Andrieu has a client portfolio of several million, as well as a sharp knowledge of the regional economic fabric.

Waycom’s move to the heart of Bordeaux is motivated by the richness of the Bordeaux ecosystem. Ranked the second largest city in France in terms of business creation, the metropolis proudly posted a business creation rate of almost 18% in 2014 when the national average was 4 points lower. In 2016, it climbed into the top 5 best cities to undertake in France. It must be said that the environment is particularly conducive to the creation and development of projects. Between incubators, technopolises, incubators, nurseries and accelerators, sometimes accompanied by giants Google or Microsoft for example, startups are well surrounded and more easily destined for considerable growth.

From a strategic point of view, the installation in Bordeaux is part of a more global vision, which consists in part of establishing a close relationship in order to ensure the quality of services and avoid outsourcing as much as possible.

But what convinced Waycom’s managing director, Julien Jacquel, was above all the large number of competent engineers who leave Bordeaux schools each year. In order to stay on the cutting edge of technological advances and to take part in major projects for local companies, requiring more and more expertise, the operator has every interest in betting big on the recruitment of its teams. What could be better than setting up shop in the heart of the Bordeaux wine pool?
Labeled Happy At Work in early 2017, Waycom is now targeting the Great Place to Work label, which puts employee confidence and pride at the centre of thinking in the service of the company’s goals and economic growth. But Waycom does not intend to stop in Bordeaux or even at the borders of France since it would now seek to expand by acquiring an operator abroad.

With such ambitions and a philosophy for well-being at work, there is no doubt that it will attract the talents of the Bordeaux metropolis.
