Transparency, Agriconomie provides the answers to farmers

The agricultural sector faces difficulties in terms of transparency. This mainly concerns pricetransparency, which can lead to cash flow difficulties. Indeed, knowing the exact prices of agricultural products makes it possible to compare prices and thus better manage their purchasing power. It is to meet these needs that the Agriconomie platform was born. It allows farmers to buy online all the products and tools necessary for their activity, while benefiting from unparalleled transparency. As this sector is dominated by oligopolies, transparency of information is not always easy.

However, this need for transparency does not only concern the agriculturalsector. Indeed, it is an important factor for all consumers. This makes it possible to reassure, to inform correctly and thus promotes the purchasing process. Each company therefore has every interest in betting on the global transparency of its activity to ensure its sustainability.

Agricultural sector, opacity that hinders farmers’ profitability

Farmers face several challenges. Remuneration is one of the main factors. Indeed, they have to face climatic conditions that have a strong impact on their production and therefore on their income. Drought and frost cause farmers to lose much of their annual production each year. For example, the severe drought of 2019 caused a reduction of 8.6% on the average agricultural result. A considerable loss for farmers suffering from weather conditions without being able to do much about it.

Then come the costs related to the realization of their activity. Indeed, purchases, production costs and all kinds ofinvestment are not negligible for farmers. If all these costs are not transparent, this accentuates the problems of profitability. The support of farmers by all stakeholders is therefore a major challenge to promote fairer remuneration. This requires information to consumers, the valorization of local farmers and the transparency of all information.

Agriconomie farmers transparency profitability platform

This is how Agriconomiecomes into play. Indeed, the French start-up was created in 2014 by 3 young entrepreneurs. Coming from the agricultural sector, they created the first online sales platform dedicated to farmers and their needs. Now with more than 65,000 customers,it supports farmers by offering supply products but also online tools. These tools aim to make their daily lives easier. The strength of this platform is in particular the transparency it brings to farmers on the products they buy. Indeed, all the prices of the products are available with delivery costs and taxes. Thus, buyers are perfectly aware and this therefore improves their profitability. Thanks to this, farmers save an average of 4,000 euros per year.

Transparency of information, a reassuring factor for consumers

The concept of transparency of information is essential for consumers. Indeed, it allows them to be confident about the products they buy on a daily basis. This therefore testifies to a relationship of mutual trust between consumers and producers or brands. Thus, as a company, it is therefore mandatory to know and recognize the issues around transparency. This requires the transparency of their products as well as the manufacturing process of the latter. Highlighting your actions that respect the environment but also the workforce makes it possible to convince and retain. Brand values such as ethics, respect for people, the environment as well as traceability or honesty are increasingly acclaimed by consumers.

This transparency is highly expected for consumer food goods. Indeed, the origin of products is mandatory for meat such as pork, poultry, goat and sheep for example. There has been a spike in the desire for information and traceability of products since the beginning of the Covid-19 health crisis. Indeed, consumers want to protect their health and not consume products that can alter it. A brand therefore has everything to gain from moving towards a quality policy. It will then be able to demonstrate its transparency in order to gain a significant market share.
