Sessile, florists committed to proximity

Sessile showcases local florists in major cities to promote know-how and proximity. The company arrives in Bordeaux to deploy its platform, in order to support local artisanal florists. After the pandemic, the way of consuming and buying flowers has evolved, to the detriment of the local. In order to restore visibility and put back at the heart of the business the know-how and creativity of florists, Sessile provides a real solution. The latter are experiencing a difficult period, marked by lockdowns and restrictions.

Sessile, the fight against the uberization of florists

There are many television commercials. What if for Mother’s Day, you ordered your bouquet on the internet, and had it delivered directly to your mother on D-Day? The same goes for Grandmother’s Day, or valentine’s day. Players like Watercolor,Florajet, 123Fleurs are vying for the online ordering market to sell more bouquets. An optimized operation, which allows, even in a period of confinement, to deliver a bouquet of flowers without moving.

Artisan florist quality
A florist is an artist who sublimates flowers.

First observation: the bouquets are photographed, already all ready, there is only to pay. It is therefore impossible to compose your own creation, to put white and red roses together if it is not proposed. Certainly, the service is fast, efficient thanks to the digital deployment … But we lose the charm of the profession of florist. The one where you can choose your flowers, and let the professional create the most suitable composition.

Bouquets are made by florists but by buying through these large platforms, they lose many advantages. True, they sell. But the commission levied by the platforms is important, and does not sufficiently remunerate local florists. On the other hand, the creative aspect is totally forgotten, with this choice of bouquets imposed, without respect for the seasonalities of the flowers. The profession of florist is transformed with the rise of digitalized solutions, far from the traditional know-how.

Digital weighs in the balance, with nearly 10% of flower purchases in France. But with the pandemic, this rate continues to increase, at the expense of buying live in florists’ stalls. Some local actors are mobilizing to give more visibility to these self-employed people who want to exercise their profession and survive the post-pandemic period.

A collective of connected florist craftsmen

Faced with the take-off of the major players in online flower ordering, other initiatives are emerging. Initiatives such as those of Sessile, a platform that promotes local actors. The company, already established in Paris, Lille and Lyon, arrives in Bordeaux and in its crown. And just arrived, Sessile is already working with 12 localflorists.

Buying online is an asset for florists, who, like other businesses, must take this digital turn. Also, Sessile has developed a platform that gives access to 100% artisanal compositions. Compositions created with care by the florists themselves, without any constraint. The latter then have complete freedom in setting their price

Bouquet flowers composition
Florists rely on the support of local customers.

This concern to give florists back their freedom and give them total leeway also encourages customers to turn to neighborhood artisans rather than large platforms. When they place an order, the florist closest to the delivery address is then offered to place the order. It offers bases of bouquets or compositions, which the customer can customize.

This variety then allows the customer to order a bouquet produced in short circuit, with the creativity and know-how of the florist. This approach is both better for man and for the environment. In the same, Sessile accompanies florists in their digital visibility.

To join the Sessile network, florists pay an affordable monthly subscription to access the platform. The commission is much lower than that of other platforms, for a fairer remuneration. This allows them to remain independent, free of all decisions… While being part of a collective that supports their activity.
