Cultural season of the City of Wine between discovery, reflections and sharing

Since April 15, the exhibition Picasso, the effervescence of forms at the Cité du Vin has been held. This exhibition will be open until August 28, 2022. The exhibition brings together emblematic works by the artist. This exhibition, also made possible by the participation of the Musée National Picasso in Paris and the Museu Picasso in Barcelona, reveals for another month, the creativity of the artist around wine and spirits on different media. They are guided by photographs and chronological landmarks that litter the course. Audiovisual archives and nods to popular culture complete the tour.

A long-awaited exhibition

In March 2022 there is only one month left to wait to discover the major exhibition dedicated to Picasso’s work at the Cité du Vin. The exhibition “The effervescence of forms” traces the relationship to wine and popular alcohols that are invited in Picasso’s works. Indeed, the long-awaited exhibition will open from April 15, August 28, 2022.

The exhibition aims to address all the supports and themes of the artist in relation to wine. It must be said that Picasso was never satisfied with a single medium. He worked in painting, drawing, ceramics and even made films. This exhibition is made in collaboration with the historian and art critic Stéphane Guégan. The latter takes the place of scientific curator in order to set up an original and ambitious exhibition. The exhibition will bring together no less than 80 works thanks to the participation of the Musée National Picasso-Paris and the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. Know and appreciate wine in its context

During the month of February, the cultural season of the Cité du Vin leaves room for reflection. It opens the debate around the knowledge and consumption patterns of wine in today’s world. Indeed, the Cité du Vin returns with two flagship events. These are the Harvest of Knowledge and the Wine and Health Meeting. From February 1st at 7pm, visitors will be able to participate in the event Train, improve and maintain their olfactory skills. This event is part of the Cycle of the Harvest of Knowledge. The objective of this event is to learn but also to understand the interest of one’s sense of smell when consuming wine. Indeed, the tasting of a good wine is also done with the nose.

Following, the cultural season of Cité du vin continues with the Rencontre Vin et Santé. It will take place on February 5 at 10am. It will take place on a day during which experts will open the debate around the consumption of wine. It is worth approaching the subject to understand how alcohol consumption takes place today. By deciphering trends, it is then possible to identify different consumption patterns and thus adapt a risk prevention model. According to figures from the CNIV, in 2019 more than 3.5 billion bottles were consumed. This meeting will take place in the auditorium of the Cité du Vin. For those who could not go there, the Cité du Vin also ensured that the event could be followed online.

Finally, as a famous saying goes, after theory comes practice. As part of the cultural season, the Cité du Vin is organising two food and wine workshops on 3 and 10 February. During these workshops participants will be able to taste wines accompanied by sweet or savory dishes. On February 17, it will be possible to discover Croatian wines and the wine tradition of the country. And finally, February 24 will be an opportunity to discover the diversity of white wines.

The cultural season of the Cité du Vin also announces good deals

In order to start the year and the cultural season on the right foot, the Cité du Vin sets up a preferential rate for the resident of Bordeaux metropolis. Indeed, it offers a rate of -50% on simple presentation of a proof of address. With this rate it is therefore possible to have an adult ticket at € 10.50 for the permanent route with access to the Belvedere and a glass of wine. For those interested, this rate will be valid until March 31st.
