Back to school for managers, changes in relational strategy

The start of this year’s school year is still under the sign of Covid. Indeed, for the second year in a row, leaders must get used to modified work habits. Teleworking has become established in the long term and videoconferencing is now part of everyday life. It is therefore important to question the strategy of the leader in this new way of working. Thus, the manager must therefore review this strategy in order to maintain a permanent link between him and the employees but also between the employees.

These changes in working habits have had a strong impact on the way employees work but also on labour relations. Having had no choice, companies had to quickly set up teleworking to curb the Covid-19 epidemic. This isolated the employees and maintaining the link was therefore a mandatory issue. This is intended in particular to maintain the motivation of employees but also their well-being.

Business leaders, a return to school under the sign of oral strategy

Back to school is synonymous with changes in the world of work. Indeed, September 2021 already represents the second return to the Covid era. Work habits have changed significantly and have given way to video-conferences and teleworking. Thehybrid organization is therefore an integral part of work habits and employees have therefore become accustomed to it and have taken a liking to it. It is in this context that the question of the link between employees arises. For leaders, this represents a major challenge to keep a certain cohesion and motivation within their teams. It is therefore interesting to ask the question of the role that the leader must have to federate his teams. Changes in work habits means changes in the strategy of leaders.

Thus, leaders must rework their strategy to maintain the professional relationship, despite the distance. This includes speaking out. Indeed, finding the right words, promoting dialogue and working on your body attitude will make you a good speaker. The importance of dialogue makes it possible to promote unfailing cohesion, to allow employees to develop a sense of belonging to the company. This aims to solve potential social and economic problems. It is therefore important to understand that social dialogue must be applied on a massive scale. The leader must therefore develop his role in order to become a federator and positive influencer.

Big changes, work habits modified by the health crisis

The health crisis has had a considerable impact on labour relations. Indeed, the hybrid format being more and more popular, employees have become accustomed to it and appreciate having at least one day a week a day at home. Thus, flexibility, autonomy and comfort are the key words of this practice. This makes it possible to manage their working time in their own way, to be more concentrated to the detriment of everyday professional relations.

Nevertheless, the return to work still represents a well-being for a large majority of employees. Contact with colleagues and travel to their workplace allows them to keep a certain activity. Indeed, the Covid-19 health crisis has created an increase in sedentary lifestyle.

For an efficient and safe return to work for employees, it is now necessary to rethink workspaces. Open spaces give way to individual offices to limit the potential transmission of the virus and thus protect employees. This option can work if individual offices are not assigned to specific employees. Indeed, with partial teleworking, the flex office is therefore a relevant solution.

Despite the control of the epidemic for this 2021 school year, some actions are destined to continue. These include wearing a mask in offices, disinfecting hands and surfaces, and distancing to promote. With the arrival of variants and the uncertainties associated with them, we will still have to be careful for some time…
