Orange is committed to an inclusive society

Orange is involved in the inclusion of people with disabilities. On the occasion of International Disability Day, the company released a film collecting the testimonies of its employees. Employees themselves with disabilities or indirectly affected. The opportunity to show Orange’s commitment to creating a more inclusive society…

Tolerance, inclusion, and mutual aid: strong terms that sum up Orange’s professional commitment, both in France and internationally. A functioning that puts the human at the heart of the company, and also demonstrates the benefits of difference at the service of the collective.

An inclusion company that listens to its employees

When we think of inclusion, immediately, the accessibility of people with disabilities is evoked. Workstation layout, specific training… All these elements for the good cooperation of all. Taking into account a disability in a company is not limited to a physical or mental disability. Indeed, many other disabling factors exist, and are found in the professional environment.

For example, the language or culture barrier. When a company like Orange deploys internationally, not all employees may belong to the same culture, speak the same language. Thus, in order for everyone to find their place within the company, it is necessary either to adapt or to smooth the cohesion around a language mastered by all like English… Why not also open up to intercultural differences and make it a force.

Inclusion ethnicities tolerance company
With Orange, inclusion promotes “working together” regardless of our background, culture or health.

Indeed, the cultural richness within a company allows to innovate, to develop new knowledge and skills.

In France, Orange employs more than 5,200 employees with disabilities, out of a total of 87,000. Globally, the group employs 147,000 people, making it one of the most influential groups in the sector. A group that wants to listen to its employees and their well-being, and that accompanies each of the employees concerned in their integration. A relationship of trust and mutual aid so that everyone can invest fully and serenely in the development of the company.

The place of disability in companies at the time of COVID-19

In this period of COVID-19, how are companies organized for the inclusion of their employees with disabilities? With the end of the year, a majority of companies are organizing and offering remote work. Telework is gaining new followers, who work from home, to continue to support the company.

Companies with more than 20 employees are obliged to employ disabled workers in their workforce, to the tune of 6%. Thus, within these companies, the layout of work and positions is important. But how is this development going in the context of telework?

Orange continued to work during containment, both in March and November. Even if the stores close during this period, telephone standards remain active, with workers operating from home.

The inclusion of people with disabilities does not stop, for Orange, it has only just begun. With its outreach operations, the group hopes to get its message across to other companies… So that together, all follow the path of a more inclusive society. A society where everyone plays an essential role, and allows the company to move forward.
