Public Innovation Month, a change to be sustained

On the occasion of this conference, the scope of the event sets the tone. It is necessary to continue to innovate and adapt to the health crisis that the country is going through. The Government’s public transformation programme brings actions and decisions into line with a broader vision. This makes it possible to value the work of the men and women of the public service on a daily basis. Thus, national ambition is reflected in the region, through the recovery plan. Confidence and accountability of public actors are becoming a priority, as is the support of actors on the ground. These, particularly mobilized since the beginning of the health crisis, allow economic life to continue. Indeed, more than 200 events are dematerialized, notably through the transformation into webinars or conferences.

This unprecedented situation sheds light on effective levers that bring citizens closer to public services. They want to be closer, more efficient, and simplified on a daily basis. According to Thierry LAMBERT, this administrative simplification allows us to set up strong collaborations and increase the power of these services. Thus, their flexibility is greater, and allows them to promote new ideas, designing public action differently. This Month of Public Innovation is dedicated to public transformation in the heart of the territories. A theme in line with the Government’s Recovery Plan. At the same time, major issues such as the last kilometre issue, or continuous improvement, are shaping the world of tomorrow. Indeed, through the inclusion of all in projects in regions, Public Innovation Month strengthens the position of public actors.

Innovations in regions promising for the future

In Bordeaux, the flagship Innovation Month focuses on wine.

Public Innovation Month is also punctuated by concrete innovations on the ground. Innovations that allow certain sectors of activity such as viticulture in Bordeaux to evolve. One of these initiatives is supported by Vitirev, winner of the “Territory of Innovation” programme in 2019. Bringing together more than 20 communities and 130 partners, it aims to engage 100% of Bordeaux vineyards in alternative approaches to chemical treatments by 2030. All this while involving local actors in this initiative. The Bordeaux vineyard has 130,000 direct jobs and 13,000 wineries, and has 14 territorial innovation laboratories. This sector aims to be greener, more innovative by remaining guarantor of the distinctiveness of its wines. New Aquitaine is also a vast region with many sectors of activity, and is growing rapidly.

A portion of the regional projects is also carried out by La Base, the public innovation laboratory in New Aquitaine. To date, it supports more than 80 projects, in order to accompany them during their development, or to test them. The Base is an important player during Public Innovation Month in New Aquitaine, but also throughout the year. Other initiatives at the national level have an altruistic and solidarity dimension. For example, Public Innovation Month offers initiatives in favour of disability and civic reserve. A response to the current health crisis, with citizens who are committed to participating in missions of general interest… In collaboration, always, with associations or public bodies to support actors on the front line, in particular.
