Jawls, the green mobility of Bordeaux in Munich

Jawls is a French start-up that promotes green urban mobility. Created in 2020, its activity is very recent. And yet, it is already bursting with ambition. Indeed, Jawls announces its first partnership with two major European metropolises, Bordeaux and Munich. The metropolis of Girona and the Bavarian capital will receive a total of 600 electric scooters accessible to all users. A push towards greener mobility, and above all interesting for businesses. From 16 December 2020, you will probably see in the streets of Bordeaux these pink and blue scooters, the symbol of innovation.

An electric fleet, the Jawls offer in the service of ecology

Thus, Bordeaux will receive 100 electric scooters, and 500 will go to Munich. The scooters will then be self-service for all users, and at a very attractive launch offer. Indeed, users pay 0.12 euros per minute to use them, a more than enticing offer to discover Jawls. All this, with no unlocking costs, as is the case with other self-service offers.

The scooters have a range of 30 to 40 km, which makes it more than possible to replace some daily journeys made by car or public transport. Greener solution, therefore, encouraged by Jawls, but not only.

Indeed, the company does not offer its offers to cities only, as other companies like Yego do. Anyone can become a fleet owner, owners as well as a small business. To do this, the future owner must buy scooters or electric bikes. The Jawls Scoot (trottinettes) cost 1290 euros per unit. The Jawls Bike, on the other hand, is at 2290 euros per unit.

Once the fleet is purchased, Jawls delivers it to the individual or professional who acquires it. Maintenance operations(recharging, maintenance, mobile application management and insurance) are managed by Jawls. In addition, the company replaces any damaged or stolen vehicle at no additional cost. In return, the owner of the fleet pays a commission of up to 50% of his earnings.

It is thus a transparent, win-win service that appeals. Access to self-service mobility solutions allows users more flexibility. For short trips, you don’t have to take your personal vehicle, or you don’t have to comply with the schedules and vagaries of public transport.

Green transport, support for the resumption of local businesses

With its self-service green mobility solution, Jawls wants to go even further. It wants to be able to encourage local businesses to become owners or partners of electric scooter fleets. Thus, by being a partner, a local business can offer its customers using a Jawls Scooter to recharge it in Click and Collect. This is both a way to attract customers to shops, but also to facilitate mobility.

Indeed, at a time when the pandemic affects all sectors of activity, all means are good to attract customers back to small neighbourhood businesses. It is time for the resumption of activity. Thus, combining mobility and local economic recovery appears to be a good solution.

This offer proposed by Jawls helps to energize the range of offers offered within the cities. The ecological issue is part of the needs of cities for their commitment to a greener policy. In Bordeaux, in particular, the city is developing its mobility by including electric…

The four tram lines that run through the metropolis are electric, followed gradually by buses. In fact, recently, the most important bus lines have also become electric. If the experiment is successful, the rest of the network could gradually follow this trend.

Self-service green mobility brings other direct benefits. First, the use of a scooter or self-service bicycle reduces the number of personal vehicles in circulation. Thus, fewer people on the main roads, and more space on the car parks in the city. In this way, pollution decreases, good news for metropolises. A model to follow, promising for major European metropolises and their businesses…
