Paul Ricard Islands, a wind of hope for the 2021 season

Last updated:

The Paul Ricard Islands aims to hire 300 people for the 2021 season. Despite the COVID-19 crisis, the embiez and Bendor islands,as players in the Var’s tourism economy, do not allow themselves to be brought down. Indeed, they prefer to see beyond obstacles and anticipate the 2021 season with a touch of positivity. They are already launching a recruitment campaign. As a result, more than 300 positions are available for seasonal workers. The latter are particularly affected by the health crisis. Today, seasonal tourism workers can project themselves. They can apply on the Paul Ricard Islandswebsite.

The impact of the health crisis on hiring

By 2020, employment was in all its forms. Indeed, the arrival of COVID-19 has had a profound impact on recruitment throughout the country as a result of a decline in economic activity. As a result, companies had to adapt and the reduction in hiring was a first response. Temporary jobs and fixed-term contracts were particularly hard hit. For example, after the first containment, according to INSEE, on the Provence Alpes Côtes d’Azur region, recruitment fell by 9.1%. According to INSEE figures, the regions most affected by this phenomenon are the Vaucluse, the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Var. In the Var, a decrease of 10.3% is to be regretted.

It should be noted that not all types of employment contracts suffer in the same way from the health crisis. During the first confinement, interim employment and fixed-term contracts were the most affected. The same is true for industries. In the Var, for example, the accommodation and catering sector was the most affected.

Indeed, seasonal activity and tourism carry this sector. Tourist sites are being hit hard by containment measures. A few minutes from Bordeaux, the Arcachon Basin is also subject to these measures in the same way as the Paul Ricard Islands. Following the closure of the establishments, the sector came to a halt. In May 2020, employment in the accommodation and catering sector fell by 31% in the region. Moreover, it must also be taken into account that not all worker profiles are equal in the face of the crisis.

Indeed, if hiring declines on short-term contracts, it is the young and the less qualified who are subject to non-recruitment. In fact, about half of those affected by non-recruitment would be under the age of 35. Thus, during the first containment the decline in pre-hiring declarations fell to -74%. At the end of the containment, the recovery was rather timid, in May the figures were still negative with -62%. In 2021, after a year of crisis, the players of the economy want to be optimistic especially in regions with high tourist attraction. In this sense, the Paul Ricard Islands are trying to project itself to support seasonal employment and the Var economy.

Paul Ricard Islands offer jobs for 2021 season

Paul Ricard Islands opt for anticipation

To move forward, they are already planning their recruitment campaign for the tourist season. At the beginning of the year, and as every year, the season is getting ready. And if the context is not favourable, the Paul Ricard Islands, want to be optimistic. Thanks to the island of Embiez and the island of Bendor, the region hopes to attract holidaymakers again. Indeed, the heavenly place and owned by the industrialist Paul Ricard, seeks only to radiate and revive the economy.

For this, the islands are looking for seasonal. The positions to be filled are in the fields of hotels, restaurants but there are also jobs of sailors, port agents, hostesses. Depending on the position, the profiles you are looking for are different. Thus, there are opportunities for workers, experienced, beginner, learner, graduates or not. The Paul Ricard Islands don’t forget the students. Indeed, in the current context, the Paul Ricard Islands want to enhance them to gain experience. Internships are offered and may even lead to seasonal contracts for the season or the following.

Thus, beyond the ambitions and positivity of the recruitment campaign, the latter offers great opportunities. All the more so since everything is done to promote the working conditions of future employees. Indeed, the Paul Ricard Islands offer several accommodations to the staff of the two islands. For all those who wish, the offers are available on the website of the islands in the recruitment section. In a context where projecting several months in advance is difficult especially for seasonal contracts, the Paul Ricard Islands offer an optimistic and reassuring vision. The key words that blow a wind of lightness: “Sea, work and fun!”
