FFV and Unadev stay on course

The promotion of the handivoile by the FFV and UNADEV allows people with visual impairments to flourish. For this reason, the two structures have decided to sign a new agreement for the next 4 years.

Unadev X FFV, a successful partnership

The National Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UNADEV) is a recognized association of assistance and benevolence. Created in 1929 in Bordeaux, it has thus developed throughout the country thanks to the strength of its partners and regional centres.

After 3 consecutive years of collaboration, UNADEV and the French Sailing Federation (FFV) have decided to renew their agreement (1). The aim of this agreement is thus to intensify the action of the development of the handivoile on all the bases of the FFV. This will also ensure an optimal reception for people with visual impairments. The signing of the agreement thus demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration between two separate national structures

The agreement follows the Cecivoile project created by UNADEV in 2017. With the aim of introducing people with visual disabilities to sailing sports, the project allows them to participate in their development. Giving them a certain autonomy and freedom, Cécivoile demonstrated the positive correlation between sailing and visual impairment. Indeed, the handivoile allows a total awakening of the senses: auditory, physiotherapist …

Handisport activities, proof of the health crisis

The second containment led to the closure of the halls and places dedicated to sports practice. As essential for the physical and mental health of children and adults, the practice is possible under certain conditions. For example, professional athletes, STAPS students or people with disabilities are allowed to continue their sports activities (2). A certificate is issued for this case. It therefore allows you to travel beyond the 1 km limit imposed at the end of October.

Thus, the French Handisport Federation (FFH) is delighted with this decision taken by the government. As social inclusion is already not obvious to people with disabilities, the health situation is deepening exclusion. The decision to open the premises and access to the facilities appeals to community elected officials and mayors. Competitions remain cancelled or postponed for an indefinite period. Thus, the agreement of the FFV and Unadev is thus part of this dynamic of inclusion, despite the health crisis of COVID-19.
