Corsair links Bordeaux and the Overseas Territories live this winter

The airline Corsair wants to position itself as an active company in France. A company that creates a bridge between the metropolis and the Overseas Territories. Throughout the year, Bordeaux airport continues to offer new air connections around the world. If some are intended to last over time, others are only punctual, depending on seasonality. This is particularly the case for the next direct air link, which will connect Bordeaux and Pointe-à-Pitre, guadeloupe. A winter connection eagerly awaited by passengers.

Corsair, specialist in long-haul flights to overseas france

Since its creation in 1981, the airline Corsair has been offering flights around the world. Flights mainly to overseas, with departures already present in Paris, Marseille and Nantes. Bordeaux will only be a seasonal departure, from December 19, 2021, until May 1, 2022. The airline Corsair offers for this purpose a direct connection between Bordeaux and Pointe-à-Pitre every Sunday.

These air links make it possible to relaunch journeys to these French islands after several complicated months. Months placed under the sign of COVID-19, and under a new confinement for Guadeloupe, just like Martinique. These two islands are still very affected by the virus and still apply restrictions. But by the end of the year, Corsair is hopeful that the situation will improve.

In order to reassure all travelers who have already taken their ticket, Corsair offers free changes or refunds until March 2022. A reassuring freedom for travelers, especially if the situation is still evolving. Faced with the evolution of the pandemic, despite the various protection implementations, Corsair does not want to take a risk.

Also, the airline wants to offer its customers a convenient, flexible and adapted service to the needs. Bordeaux airport offers more and more direct lines, which saves travelers a considerable amount of time. Enjoy your stay as long as possible, avoiding a more or less long stopover in European hubs, such as Paris, Amsterdam or London…

But it is also good news from an environmental point of view. Indeed, flights with a stopover are much more polluting than a direct flight, because it takes at least two different planes to make the flight.

The island of Guadeloupe is relaunching its tourism this winter.

Reviving tourism through direct flights

By facilitating access to a destination with a direct flight, airlines propose to strengthen the tourist attractiveness. With the opening of the direct line between Bordeaux and Guadeloupe, Corsair is helping to revive tourism between these two destinations. With the lockdown, and travel restrictions, getting out of the metropolis was more complicated.

The airline offers its Bordeaux passengers to fly to the sun during the winter, to enjoy the treasures of France. Conversely, Guadeloupeans wishing to go to Bordeaux to discover the city and taste the local wines, which make the country’s reputation in the world. And all this at affordable prices, from 434 € round trip. Other direct connections, such as Bordeaux Montreal, continue over time. This is another seasonal link set up a few seasons ago, which continues year after year.

Resuming tourism is a necessity. France relies heavily on this sector of activity, which has been undermined by the pandemic. If the coming months will mark the recovery of air traffic in France and around the world… The recovery will be slow, but sure. Since the lockdown of March 2020, tourism remains exclusively indoor. An important mobilization to energize the regions of France, but insufficient to fill the absence of foreign tourists.

There are therefore encouraging signs to open long-haul air links in France, and revive tourism activity in areas affected and impacted by the pandemic. A way to place oneself in a post-COVID-19 vision, always taking precautions vis-à-vis passengers, in case the situation still evolves…
