The end of the year holidays and Christmas are fast approaching. At the Cité du Vin, everything is done to ensure that the period is festive and warm for all. On this occasion, the famous Bordeaux Museum puts the small dishes in the big ones and offers a new experience. Throughout the year, the Cité du Vin strives to offer new events, to bring wine and its history to life with all Bordeaux residents… As well as for all wine-loving visitors. The approach of Christmas will undoubtedly mark the minds of visitors who discover or rediscover this place dedicated to wine.
2022, two charity dinners for the Cité du Vin
Patronage is the second source of revenue after the sale of entrance tickets to the Cité du Vin. In this context, it is not surprising that it is at the heart of the economic model of the Foundation for the Culture and Civilizations of Wine. Thus, for 2022, the Foundation announces two charity dinners. A happy announcement to celebrate the end of 2021!
The first charity dinner will take place in Bordeaux at the Cité du Vin on 27 January. The second, in Paris at the Restaurant Guy Savoy, on March 14. These Gala dinners will be an opportunity to raise funds to create new cultural events at the Cité du Vin. Including temporary exhibitions, events, workshops… Launched 6 years ago, these charitable meals allow the Foundation for the Culture and Civilizations of Wine to carry out its mission of safeguarding and transmitting wine culture.
The Bordeaux Gala Dinner is a highly anticipated event after being cancelled last year due to the health crisis. It is all the more necessary that the Cité du Vin had to close its doors for nearly 10 months in two years. For this Gala, the Cité du Vin is planning 300 guests in the sumptuous Salle des Colonnes. Guests of choice who will be delighted by Chef Jérôme Schilling, starred restaurant Lalique at Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey.
Christmas, from the art of the table to the discovery of new wines
The Christmas holidays are often represented by a delicate meal, consisting of fine products and chocolate. The opportunity to open a bottle of quality wine , which blends perfectly with the flavors on offer. As the holidays approach, the Cité du Vin offers a food and wine pairing workshop dedicated to Christmas products. What wine to consume with foie gras, with seafood? What is the best marriage between wine and chocolate?
The Cité du Vin thus relies on workshops dedicated to tasting to discover the different grape varieties. Throughout the month of December, wine is in the spotlight with the colors and flavors of Christmas. Tasting of festive products, and exceptional wines to blend perfectly with all textures, all tastes … A unique opportunity in an exceptional setting.
Throughout the year, when visiting the permanent exhibition of the Cité du Vin, visitors can visit the Belvedere. There, they taste a wine offered among products of the world while admiring the panorama of the city. This experience seduces and attracts visitors from all over the world.

Encounters and discovery of products of the world
On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, the Cité du Vin also offers its visitors the opportunity to discover Greek wines in mid-December. Rather unknown wines, Greek productions are no less rich in flavors, and adapt just as much to festive tables as others. Sparkling wines, sweet wines or more spicy are therefore to be discovered for a unique experience.
The approach of Christmas is also an opportunity to meet Bernard Magrez, entrepreneur and patron renowned in Bordeaux and around the world. It has many wine estates, such as the unmissable Pape Clément, located in Pessac. When he came to the Cité du Vin, he presented his career and his success, with today 42 vineyards to his credit, in 9 countries of the world.
Christmas is therefore looming under the sign of sharing and discovery at the Cité du Vin, with also two conferences focused on developments relating to the world of wine… As well as developments in viticulture. The potential arrival of organic cultivation and more natural methods to process grapes raises many questions. Questions intended for winegrowers who have not yet taken the plunge… Only to amateurs who wonder and are interested in the question.
