Adapting its strategy in times of containment, the bet of survival of companies

The containment period during COVID-19 around the world has had a significant impact on the economic health of businesses. Between the shutdown of the activity for several months, or the obligation to resort to partial unemployment, the situation is still unstable at present. At a time when the recovery and stimulus plans issued by the executive is taking place, the leaders see further. In the event of a return to confinement or a restriction of their activity, they rethink their strategy to best deal with all situations. Thus, a model geared towards a new operation including new constraints allows to better evolve and transform.

Include telework in its operation, based on containment model

For many employees and managers, containment has significantly changed the way the company and their business operate. Indeed, for companies considered essential such as food shops, hospitals and all public services, the activity remained the same. However, the complementary health measures that have become in place on a daily basis make it possible to receive people without risk. But for all other activities deemed non-essential, unless there was an opportunity to adapt, this period signed a halt to the activity. And this, until further notice. That’s when companies that could start using telework. Thanks to digital tools, their activity could continue. Given the situation, companies adapt and offer context-appropriate missions. Thus, for many sectors, the context is the beginning of a new way of functioning, with new objectives.

For companies with a purely commercial role, the period was rather complex. Indeed, with containment, professional clients prefer to postpone their contract. This as a result of the delicate economic situation of many groups. To succeed in maintaining an activity and generating revenue, activities are transformed and adapted. It starts with more flexible schedules, and a new work environment. According to an Anact study during confinement, 39% of respondents indicate that their activities have been redefined.

Only 22% believe that their activity has remained the same as before the containment and pandemic. After the confinement, some companies chose to pursue a partial telework formula, especially in Bordeaux. The area where the virus is still circulating is particularly monitored, and companies are vigilant. For them, adaptation is also at the heart of offices, for the safety of all.

A long-term adaptation of the way in which work is done in a company

For Bordeaux companies, the return to work in companies raises two important points:the adaptation of the workspace and sanitary measures. Indeed, open-space offices must mark sufficient spacing between each employee. For offices with a small size, depending on the number of employees, this organization is not possible. Thus, telework remains an option, and is even encouraged for areas at risk. This allows employees, especially those who live far from their jobs, to avoid travel. But this remote work does not bring the same quality of life to the job as when you are in the office. There are fewer social interactions, especially between employees. In short, telework is an alternative solution and provides an effective solution for a delicate period of time.

Companies in New Aquitaine are therefore looking to change their operations in response to the current health situation. By adapting their activities, they allow their employees to continue to practice even in an evolving situation. Confinement, downsizing are all factors that directly affect companies. These impacts on the company’s economy force it to constantly adapt to remain active and competitive.
